4th Annual Shoes 4 School Giveaway
The Family Worship and Praise Center’s Community Development Corporation (FWPC CDC) has been dedicated in serving the Tallahassee and surrounding communities for over a decade. This year, we are gearing up for our 4th Annual Shoes 4 School Giveaway on Sunday, which will take place next year on August 9th, 2020.
This year, the FWPC CDC provided over 3000 children in need with a brand new pair of shoes for back to school. As we are aware, footwear can be one of the most visible signs of poverty and we believe that no child should have to encounter pain, humiliation or a lack of confidence due to poorly looking and/or ill-fitting shoes. A fresh pair of shoes, can be just what a child needs to feel confident and prepared to face the world! Providing new shoes not only builds confidence but also adds benefits like increased participation in sports and physical activity, access to education because children are not missing school due to inadequate footwear, as well as reductions in school bullying.
Next year, it is our goal to provide students in Leon and surrounding counties a brand-new pair of shoes; however, we cannot do this without your assistance. We plan to collaborate with local healthcare agencies, the Leon County School District and, other community partners just like yourself.
